Virginie Mennesson

Head of Regulatory Affairs – FS Consulting

 

Virginie joined Mazars in London at the end of 2019 to lead and develop the Regulatory Affairs function in the Banking team in Financial Services Consulting. Prior to joining Mazars, Virginie worked for over 3 years at BNP Paribas Corporate and Institutional Bank where she was Acting Head of European Regulatory Change. In that role, Virginie was responsible for managing a team advising Business and Compliance colleagues on the implementation of key regulatory dossiers including MiFID 2, Brexit, and the bank’s adherence to voluntary codes of market conduct. Virginie also represented BNPP on various trade associations working groups, including the AFME Compliance Committee.

Before that, Virginie worked for 5 years for Barclays in Global  Compliance Services. She chaired the group’s  Regulatory Consultations forum, co-ordinating the bank’s advocacy response to major consultations and chaired the group’s MiFID 2 forum. Virginie began her career at the UK Financial Services Authority (now FCA), where she worked for 11 years in various supervisory, policy and strategy roles.

In 2009/10,  during the financial crisis, Virginie was seconded by the FSA to the Cabinet Office as Senior Policy Adviser to co-ordinate the Prime Minister’s agenda on international financial services across Whitehall and to develop policy on financial services regulation and tax for 2 G20 Summits, liaising with the FSA, Bank of England, HM Treasury and Number 10.
